A Father's Heart, A Daughter’s Rescue — And the Day God Spoke
I wasn’t planning to write a book. I was simply headed to help clean the new SafeHaven building — a ministry dedicated to helping women, especially mothers, who are caught in the darkness of addiction.
But as I drove, something happened.
God began to show me a picture in my heart — of a little girl, lost and afraid in the woods… and a Father, searching desperately to bring her home. It was more than a story. It was a question:
“What if this was your daughter? How would you want people to help you find her? How desperate would you be to get her back?”
That’s when it clicked. This wasn’t just a story. It was a glimpse into the Father’s heart — how He sees every one of His lost daughters, and how far He’s willing to go to bring them home.
I pulled over, grabbed my phone, and began to type what I was seeing. Scene after scene came alive, with characters I hadn’t planned, and words that weren’t my own.
The Father’s Child was born that day.
This book is not about me. It’s about the One who rescues.
The One who shines His light into our darkness.
The One who won’t stop until His daughters are found.
SafeHaven — A Real-Life Rescue Mission
While I was on my way to help clean the building that would become SafeHaven, God gave me the story of The Father’s Child.
I didn’t know it then, but He was connecting two missions — one told through words and pictures… the other lived out in real life.
SafeHaven is a Christ-centered ministry led by women in West Virginia who have said “enough is enough.”
In a state devastated by addiction, SafeHaven steps in to rescue the most vulnerable — especially mothers battling substance use and the innocent children born into the brokenness it leaves behind.
Their goal is to break the generational cycle of addiction by offering rehabilitation, foster care and family support, and prevention through education and awareness.
The same cry that runs through this book — a Father searching for His daughter — is the same cry SafeHaven lives out every day.
Together, we’re telling the same story:
A rescue mission. A light in the darkness. A Father who never stops pursuing His children.
Note: SafeHaven and Missing Pieces Ministries are not formally affiliated. I have been involved with SafeHaven through my church and deeply support their mission. This book and website were created independently to honor the same heart of rescue.
